Discrimination is against the law

MaineHealth organizations meet all applicable federal civil rights laws. MaineHealth organizations do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity. MaineHealth organizations do not exclude people or treat them differently because of race, color, national origin, age, disability, sex, religion, sexual orientation or gender identity; or because the individual is unable to pay for healthcare services; or because payment for those services would be made under Medicare, Medicaid, or the Children's Health Insurance Program.

MaineHealth organizations provide:

1. Free aids and services to people with disabilities to communicate effectively with us, such as:
   • Qualified sign language interpreters
   • Written information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, other formats)
2. Free language services to people whose primary language is not English, such as:
   • Qualified interpreters
   • Information written in other languages

If you believe a MaineHealth organization has failed to provide these services or discriminated in another way on the basis of your age, race, ethnicity, religion, culture, language, physical or mental disability, socioeconomic status, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity of expression, you can file a grievance by contacting the appropriate Patient Relations Coordinator as listed below:
